I was trying to spread things out and not write about makeup, but I feel as though I’ve been slapped in the face by the cosmetic gods. It was announced today that Urban Decay had been removed from Leaping Bunny’s cruelty free list.
”{Urban Decay} has notified us that they have elected to sell their products in China, which, due to animal testing requirements in that country, will cause them to be in violation of our Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals.”
Urban Decay claimed the decision was to help spread the “cruelty free” message abroad. Not only should they be ashamed for betraying their compassionate customers, but they should be ashamed for thinking we would believe such horse shit.
Ugh. My makeup bag is in mourning, but not to worry- As promised, I will do a completely cruelty free, vegan makeup post this weekend. #vegansofig

For those who haven’t heard, Urban Decay announced two days ago that they were going to sell to the Chinese market, which requires animal testing to be done on their products, thus destroying the very ethics they were founded on. They lost their Leaping Bunny & PETA certifications, and now have even taken down THEIR OWN PRESS RELEASE OFF OF THEIR WEBSITE. That’s not shady at all…
If you would like to make your voice heard, I started a change.org petition the second I heard about the news. Now almost 2,500 caring consumers have signed. Please sign your name too, and reblog so we can try to change UD’s mind. At the very least, this will send a message to any other cruelty-free cosmetics company that their consumers do NOT take animal testing lightly!

As of today, Leaping Bunny has taken away their certification of Urban Decay for their decision to expand into China, thus inviting the Chinese government to test their products on animals.
